Notes

This view can be compared with Piranesi's print of 1762 of the Ponte Molle, which shows the tower and archways in greater profile, before its restoration by Valadier in 1805. However, the drawing here attributed to Robert Adam gives only two of the four major bays of the Ponte Molle and lacks the detailing of the relief niches between each arch. The composition may be compared with the view of a fortified bridge by Charles-Louis Clérisseau in Adam vol.57/145.
