Notes

Similar examples of oxidisation are to be found in Adam vol.57/94 and also in two views in the Clerk Collection, Scotland (Clerk 63 and 88), both of Roman subjects: the Ponte Rotta and the Palatine Gardens from San Teodoro. All can be cautiously attributed to Jean-Baptiste Lallemand on the grounds of style and technique. As is the case in Adam vol.57/94, the number has been inscribed on the album leaf rather than the drawing, and is in a nineteenth-century hand.
