Notes

This view is probably taken from the Palazzo Pallavicini-Rospigliosi across the Via del Quirinale (Via XXIV Maggio) of the Colonna gardens, Rome, showing the ramped entrance and sixteenth-century doorway. The garden held an interesting collection of antiquities, which may have been the attraction for Charles-Louis Clérisseau and Robert Adam. The view in Adam vol.57/115 is of the bridge between the Colonna gardens and the Palace.
