Notes

This view of the Temple of Vesta (Sibyl) at Tivoli by Jean-Baptiste Lallemand is the companion to several made by Charles-Louis Clérisseau and Robert Adam found in this volume (see Adam vol.57/91 and 57/159) and to several in the Clerk Collection, Scotland (two of which are Clerk 192 & 119 also by Lallemand). The Lallemand view is the more picturesque, with less emphasis on the Temple, than the other two compositions by Adam and Clérisseau.

There is a set of Lallemand compositions in Adam vol.56/149-154.

Verso

Inscribed Lallemand Vol.7 no.135.
